Major Announcements

re:Invent 2019 was filled with groundbreaking announcements, reveals, and innovations. Here are some of our favorites:

Amazon EC2

AWS unveiled the new EC2 innovations. AWS expanded on its services with new Arm-based instances such as M6g, C6g, and R6g that are   powered by AWS processors in Graviton2. These machine learning instances are also powered by AWS-designed Inferentia chips.

AWS Outposts

AWS announced prelimary access to AWS Outposts. These outposts are fully managed and configurable storage racks crafted with AWS hardware that allows customers to run compute and storage on-premises that connect the to the AWS cloud. These Outposts bring AWS services, infrastructure, and operating models to virtually any data centre, co-location space, or on-premises facility.

AWS Wavelength

AWS revealed the new AWS Wavelength which expands application ability to serve 5G networks. This is done by providing developers the ability to build applications  with single-digit millisecond latencies over the 5G network. Wavelength embeds AWS storage services with telecommunications providers’ 5G networks, allowing developers to serve applications that require ultra-low latency. This includes applications like machine learning, autonomous industrial equipment, smart cars, smart cities, Internet of Things, and Augmented Reality, and Virtual Reality.
