Case Study | Server Migration to AWS | CFO Hub
CFO Hub Scales for Growth with Server Migration to AWS
About CFO Hub
CFO Hub is a fast-growing financial services provider delivering outsourced CFO and accounting solutions to startups and mid-market companies. As the firm expanded its services and client base, the reliability and scalability of its on-premises infrastructure became increasingly strained, impacting performance and user experience.
The Challenge: High Availability and Reliability at Scale
CFO Hub was experiencing rapid growth and needed to ensure their web infrastructure could support increased traffic, heightened demand for uptime, and better overall performance. Their on-premises servers and legacy hosting solution frequently struggled under load, causing issues with application availability and site responsiveness.
The organization recognized that continued reliance on on-prem infrastructure would limit its ability to scale quickly, support business continuity, and deliver a consistently high-quality digital experience for clients and internal teams. They needed a future-ready solution with built-in resilience, automated scaling, and improved operational efficiency.
Why AWS
AWS offered the agility, flexibility, and global infrastructure that CFO Hub needed to grow without disruption. Leveraging AWS’s proven high availability capabilities and scalable services, CFO Hub aimed to modernize its architecture while reducing operational overhead.
AWS features such as Amazon EC2 Auto Scaling, Amazon RDS Multi-AZ deployments, and availability zone redundancy provided an ideal foundation to meet their objectives of enhanced reliability, elasticity, and business continuity.
The Solution: A Highly Available Cloud Architecture
CFO Hub engaged Stratus10, an AWS Advanced Consulting Partner, to lead the architecture design and migration process. Stratus10 collaborated closely with the CFO Hub team to assess the existing infrastructure and replatform the application stack on AWS.
The architecture was reimagined for the cloud, focusing on:
- High availability: Stratus10 deployed web and application servers across multiple AWS Availability Zones to ensure failover protection and minimal downtime.
- Scalability: EC2 instances were grouped into Auto Scaling Groups, allowing the environment to dynamically scale based on traffic demand while optimizing costs.
- Database resilience: Amazon RDS was configured for Multi-AZ deployment, ensuring data durability and availability even in the event of zone failure.
Additionally, Stratus10 leveraged Amazon CloudFront to distribute content globally with low latency, and AWS WAF (Web Application Firewall) to protect web-facing components against common threats and vulnerabilities.
Results and Benefits
The migration to AWS has enabled CFO Hub to scale confidently as their user base grows. Key benefits include:
- Improved uptime: Multi-AZ redundancy and autoscaling have dramatically reduced service interruptions.
- Performance gains: Users experience faster load times and improved responsiveness across geographies.
- Operational efficiency: CFO Hub’s internal team now spends less time managing infrastructure, allowing them to focus on core business initiatives.
- Security and resilience: With AWS WAF and RDS Multi-AZ in place, the company has enhanced both its security posture and disaster recovery readiness.
